Nunhems moves U.S. research facilities to Davis, California
Davis, California (USA).Nunhems announced today that the company has moved its U.S. research laboratory activities from Brooks, Oregon, to Davis, California. The relocation involved the transfer of the molecular and cell biology laboratories as well as the produce quality analysis facilities. Brooks will continue to serve as a major breeding station.
"Plant science research is moving forward at an amazing speed, and it is vital for Nunhems to keep abreast of these developments" says Johan Peleman, Nunhems Managing Director for R&D. "The University of California at Davis, one of the world’s top plant science institutes, is right around the corner from our new location. This will enable us to keep track of the latest agricultural research and technologies and set up mutually beneficial collaborations with select laboratories."
Throughout the world, Nunhems’ research and breeding experts work closely together towards improving yields and quality of vegetable seed varieties. This involves modern technologies that facilitate quicker and more effective results in vegetable breeding, such as genomics, marker-assisted breeding, bioinformatics, as well as new cellular and molecular methodologies. In addition to its 26 breeding stations worldwide, Nunhems operates global research centers in The Netherlands, India and the U.S.
